Exiben (Cefixime) is a 3rd general oral cephalosporin used to treat infections caused by bacteria such as pneumonia, bronchitis, typhoid, gonorrhea, ear, lung, throat, and urinary tract infections. Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.

INDICATIONS:
Exiben is indicated in the following infectious diseases -
Respiratory Tract Infections: • Pneumonia • Sinusitis • Pharyngitis and Tonsillitis• Acute Bronchitis and Acute Exacerbations of Chronic Bronchitis (AECB)  • Otitis Media  • Typhoid Urinary Tract Infections
• Uncomplicated gonorrhea (cervical/urethral).

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION:
Exiben Capsule
Adult and child over 12 years: 200 or 400 mg daily as a single dose or in two divided doses
Exiben Suspension
Child over 6 months: 8mg/kg daily as a single or in two divided doses
The usual treatment of Exiben is 7 days. This may be continued for up to 14 days according to the severity of infection.
